James Potter series by G. Norman Lippert

I have decided to try out these 3 "fanfiction" books.

Book 1 - James Potter and the Hall of Elders Crossing http://www.elderscrossing.com/muggle.html
Book 2 - James Potter and the Curse of the Gatekeeper
http://www.gatekeeperscurse.com/JPCG_muggleIndex.html
Book 3 - James Potter and the Vault of Destines http://www.jamespotterseries.com/JPVOD_chapters.html

Update on 11/14/2011 - I read some chapters into the first one and well, to be quite honest I just don't like it much :(. It's not the books, probably, it's me. Needless to say, I don't want to try finishing all 3 so just gonna start reading something else and maybe try picking these up again at a later date.

Side Jobs - Jim Butcher

What I am currently reading
Side Jobs
Author - Jim Butcher (http://www.jim-butcher.com/)

Book description from Amazon -
Fans of Butcher's long-running and bestselling urban fantasy series featuring Chicago wizard PI Harry Dresden were stunned by the concluding events of the 2010 novel Changes. They'll probably want to skip ahead to the last of this collection's 11 stories, "Aftermath," set just hours after the end of that book. With Dresden's fate uncertain, it's his longtime ally, Sgt. Karrin Murphy, who must help find a kidnapped werewolf. This entry is the collection's strongest, full of powerful emotion. The rest of the book is a mixed bag, ranging from Butcher's first attempt at short fiction--"a novice effort" that "wasn't up to par for professional publication"--to more recent tales set around and between the novels. First-timers will be lost, and this uneven volume mostly makes the case that Butcher's talent is best displayed in longer form. (Nov.) (c)

What I am currently reading.
The Templar Salvation
Author - Raymond Khoury (http://www.raymondkhoury.com/home/)
Book description  from author's website -

Constantinople, 1203: As the rapacious armies of the Fourth Crusade lay siege to the city, a secretive band of Templars infiltrate the imperial library. Their target: a cache of documents that must not be allowed to fall into the hands of the Doge of Venice. They escape with three heavy chests, filled with explosive secrets that these men will not live long enough to learn.

Vatican City, present day: FBI agent Sean Reilly infiltrates the Pope’s massive Vatican Secret Archives of the Inquisition. No one but the Pope’s trusted secondi get in—but Reilly has earned the Vatican’s trust, a trust he now has no choice but to violate. A vicious, uncompromising terrorist bent on revenge has kidnapped Tess Chaykin, and the key to her freedom lies in this underground crypt, in the form of a document unread for generations. It is known as the Fondo Templari, a secret history of the infamous Templars that may reveal the explosive secret behind their centuries-old extermination—and in the process illuminate a lost corner of history and its colossal 21st century implications.

With his trademark blend of edge-of-your-seat suspense and incendiary historical research, Raymond Khoury’s The Templar Salvation marks a triumphant return to the rich territory that launched his bestselling career.

The Last Templar - Raymond Khoury - Finished Reading on 11/3/2011

At my boyfriend's recommendation, this is my current read. (We've watched the movie and I am praying the book is a lot better).
The Last Templar
Author - Raymond Khoury (http://www.raymondkhoury.com/home/)
Book description  from author's website -

Acre, Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem, 1291: As the burning city falls to the Sultan's men, a lone galley escapes out to sea, carrying a young Templar knight called Martin of Carmaux, his mentor Aimard of Villiers, and a mysterious chest entrusted to them by the Order's dying Grand Master.

The ship never reaches its destination.

Present day, Manhattan: Four masked horsemen, dressed as Templar Knights, emerge from the darkness of Central Park and storm into the Metropolitan Museum, scattering the great and the good of Manhattan society who are there for the gala opening night of an exhibition of Vatican treasures. Caught in the brutal mayhem, desk-bound archaeologist Tess Chaykin watches in silent terror as the leader of the horsemen homes in on one piece in particular, a strange geared device. He utters a few cryptic words in Latin as he takes hold of the device with reverence before leading the horsemen out and disappearing into the urban nightscape of Manhattan.

The FBI's investigation team is led by Sean Reilly, an anti-terrorist specialist as well as a practising Catholic, aided by his longtime partner Nick Aparo and a Vatican envoy, the Monsignor De Angelis. As the horsemen's dead bodies start turning up, and as the importance of the stolen device becomes more and more apparent, Tess becomes more than a witness to the crime. She and Reilly get drawn into the dark, hidden history of the crusading Knights, and of the last surviving Templars' fateful journey from Acre to the pyres of Paris. Tess and Reilly are soon facing the deadly forces battling to recover the lost secret of the Templars, and find themselves propelled into a dangerous adventure which takes them through the cemeteries and sewers of Manhattan, across continents to desolate Turkish mountains and remote Greek islands, through a Mediterranean storm of biblical proportions and into the very heart of the Vatican.

With Tess fuelled by an unswerving commitment to scientific truth, the archaeologist and the FBI agent's nascent relationship comes under intense pressure, as with each disturbing revelation relating to the Templars' long lost legacy, Reilly is plunged deeper into a spiritual and professional conflict which ultimately leaves them with the troubling burden of their shocking discovery.

On one level, The Last Templar is a fast paced contemporary adventure/thriller set in New York and in various settings around the Mediterranean, intercut by five epic chapters set during the closing years of the Crusades in which the last Templar of the title, entrusted with the Order's secret, escapes from the burning city of Acre and struggles to make it back to France. On another level, The Last Templar works as a thought-provoking exploration of religion in today's world, and of historic fact versus faith, particularly regarding the origins of the Catholic Church. Through the investigation into the Templars' history and their mysterious discovery, and though the interplay between Tess - the agnostic, scientific skeptic - and Reilly, who turned to the Church after his father shot himself when Reilly was just a boy, the book presents a spirited look at the early days of the Church and invites the reader to question matters which most of us take at face value.

Creep - Jennifer Hillier - Finished reading 10/15/2011

This is not usually the genre I would pick up to read, I usually go for the milder reads, but this was gifted to me and recommended by a friend so I decided what the heck and would give it a try and I am glad I did. I will admit that a couple of the reviews on Amazon had me leery but I am glad I didn't let them rule my decision. The story was really good. Jennifer Hillier did a wonderful job at pacing the story line out just right for me and it all flowed together. The only disappointing thing for me is having to wait for her next book in the continuation :( lol :)

Moon Tribe: Revelation - Sam Dei Lune - REVIEW

This was a quick read but an engaging story. The characters are believable and our heroine likable. The author did a great job at making the writing flow and I am anxious to read more of Danni's story.

Eighteen year old, painfully average, Danni is all set to start college in the fall, or so she thought. Finally! Finished reading the Dresden Files, yay!!

This is for books 1-13

I started this series because it was recommended to me by a friend as being the "adult" Harry Potter and I am a huge HP fan. Though there was no Hogwarts or He Who Must Not Be Named, there was Harry Dresden and his band of merry friends. From the beginning, I was plunged into Harry's Chicago and taken on a glorious ride. For me, this was realistic (to an extent) and believable (to another extent). Harry had issues and more troubles than you could shake a stick at and things didn't always go his way which made him more lovable, more real. I laughed out loud more than once during each book and even cried a time or two. I got so attached to the characters that I thought of them as MY friends and when something happened to one of them, good or bad, I felt it. These books kept me up late a lot of nights because I didn't want to stop reading, wanted to know what was going to happen next. If you are looking for a story that will warm your heart and bring a smile to your face, that's loaded with lots of action and magic, please read this series. You won't be disappointed.

One True Love - Barbara Freethy

Currently reading this book -                From Library Journal -

Four weeks before she is to be married, a frantic call for help from her childhood best friend drags Lisa Alvarez out of her safe, well-ordered existence in Los Angeles and back into a life she thought she had left behind, with painful, romantic, and ultimately satisfying results. A pair of wary, emotionally fragile protagonists, a cast of exceptional secondary characters (including three engagingly realistic children), and a multilayered plot that deftly interweaves humor, passion, and the tragedy of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome result in a poignant, heartwrenching, yet heartwarming story that is laced with love and a gentle hint of fantasy. It may appeal to readers who enjoy the work of Debbie Macomber, LaVyrle Spencer, and Kristin Hannah. Freethy (Ask Mariah, Avon, 1997) won a Rita Award in 1997 and lives in the San Francisco Bay area.

Speed Dating (Harlequin Nascar) - Nancy Warren

I started reading this book earlier this morning.

Amazon book description -

Dylan Hargreave thinks I'm an actress paid to pose as his girlfriend at a North Carolina society wedding. How did this happen to me, of all people? Kendall Clarke, award-winning actuary, the veritable shining star of number crunchers who, just hours ago, learned her responsible fiancé (sorry, ex-fiancé) called off our wedding because he'd gotten one of my colleagues pregnant. What are the odds?
Don't tell me you've never heard of Dylan Hargreave. Celebrity NASCAR driver? People magazine's Sexiest Man of the Year? Those eyes. That smile…
Forget sensible! I've assessed the risk…and I'm taking it! I usually keep the brakes on, but as of now I'm taking a vacation. From me.

Update - Finished the book. It was quite enjoyable and I found myself laughing out loud more than once :)
